Custom Finishing

The finishing department at Aucapina has served cabinet makers and general contractors in the New York area since its founding. The work done varies from simple priming for projects requiring on-site painting to the most sophisticated laquer, varnish, or oil applications for projects requiring ready-to- install pieces.  

Aucapina does finishing on all types of wood or wood products (plywood, MDF, etc) using the highest grade of polyester, polyurethane, oil, wax, or water based paints. We can also provide specialty finishes such as cerused or cracked paint effects and more. When a customer brings a sample, our skilled craftsmen will re-create a new one to match the original for approval before any finishing commences. We can re-create virtually any finish in any level of sheen specified. 
Custom Furniture & Woodwork

Our custom furniture and woodwork division has successfully worked with general contractors, interior designers, and architects all over the New York area. Aucapina can master a job of any size ranging from a simple coffee table to all the woodwork for an entire residence. This may include kitchen cabinetry, library woodwork, custom interior/exterior doors, bedroom furniture, bathroom vanities, closets, built-ins, etc. Other than standard woodwork finishing, we have extensive experience incorporating non-traditional materials such as leather, shagreen, parchment, or metalwork into the custom pieces we produce.
Upholstery

Our upholstery department works on three levels: general upholstery, custom pieces, and restoration work. 
 For general upholstery, all work is done with client supplied fabric; we do all the rest and can upholster using any textile, leather, or fur. Custom pieces may include wall panels, furniture components, banquettes, benches, etc. With hundreds of projects completed, we guarantee satisfaction. When necessary our upholstery department works hand-in-hand with our restoration department in giving antique or modern furniture a new life.

Restoration & Reproduction

Throughout the years, Aucapina has restored all types of furniture as well as other decorative pieces of woodwork for antique dealers, decorators, and interior designers serving clients around the world. In many instances, we have been called upon to reproduce a component or an entire piece of furniture in order to complete a matching set. This may include dining room chairs, end tables, armchairs, etc. Such work demands attention to every detail and brings to the fore the full palette of ours skills and craftsmanship.
